I have been investigating Web Client, Web Service and Smart Client software factories I think it is a real fantastic initiative, however, my main concern is a lack of consistency across the factories i.e. the entity translation is different in the Smart Client to the Web Service. I prefer the Smart Client mechanism that uses services and templates but the WSSF has a dialog that helps you build the class. The dialog could be more better intelligent by building a default translator. I also like the resource access builder in the WSSF i.e. building the data access layer, but this recipe could be used in Smart Client in an application that accesses a local database or indeed in the WCSF. So the question I have is should some of these recipes be common across all the factories like entity translation, data access or even should the recipes be available in any VS project and be built into the enterprise library.
