Compilation Speed

I have a project with two modules and 6 views that takes around 5 minutes to build
on a dual core with 1gb of ram.
I would like to know if anyone else is having similar build speed issues or if the team
have any ideas on what may be causing it.

Thanks

Do you have any anti-virus solution? Try stopping this while building.

I agree with Benny - I've not experienced anything like that. It does tend to be a little slow the first time you build a solution or reference implementation, but after that it should be fine.

Can you see what processes are doing a lot of cpu/io in task manager?

Thanks I have other VS projects that I am using and they have nowhere near the same compile issue.
I will run filemon and see what I can see.

Hi Anton-

You can check the Output window while you are building and see if a particular project takes longer.

In general, ASP.Net Web Site projects take long to build because they don't have a project file.

Here you have some tips written by ScottGu regarding build performance:

Hi,

Do you know if there is a chance of having web application recipes before the next release or would they simply be scheduled for the next release if they got enough votes on the issue tracker?

Many Thanks,

John

This is in our list, but of course it will get prioritized against evrything else (VB.NET support, Hands-On-Labs, etc)
