Side by side installation

Is there any way for side by side installation and co-working for version 1.1(VS2005) and 2.0(VS2008) at the same machine?

Thanks,

That should work. To get any factory to work in VS2008, you will need to upgrade to GAX 1.4 and GAT 1.4 for both instances of VS. The GAX installer will do both at once. For GAT, there are two separate installers. Fortunately, you should be able to upgrade without un-installing, like you had to in the past.

I do not think our installer forces an un-install of the previous version. :-)

Have you tried it? What challenges did you run into?
And don't forget the "Check Dependencies" button on the first page of the installer. IT will help you out with any pre-requisites.

Hi,

Unfortunately after a successfully upgrade for GAX and GAT (1.4) for both VS's, the WCSF(2008) installer prompt me "Another version of this product is already installed.... remove the existing version ..."

Thanks

Let me do a little checking on this end with the rest of the team. It may take a work day or two to see what's going on,

The consensus is that we allow June and Feb side by side. We do not allow Oct and Feb.

Thank you, I believe that you have "strong" reasons for this. In case you make some changes or fixes for that, please let me know (a lot of people had upgrade to Oct version).

Based on community feedback, we decided to make a change and fix this. It will take a few days to get through testing, and then a bit more time to get out to MSDN.
In about a week (That is a guess. Do not hold me to it because any problems will delay it. :-) ) expect a post to the forums telling about an update on MSDN that will allow side-by-side for October and February versions of the factory.
