What is the use of the ClientIdMapper control?

Sorry about the delay in the response.

The ClientIdMapper is actually just there for testing purposes. We have an automated test framework that really does not like the auto-generated ASP.NET control names. This control adds to the pages a (simple, but ugly) way for that framework to map an auto-generated control id to the control it is looking for. The call to the ClientIdMapper (in EBankingApplication's OnPageInit) can be removed safely, or wrapped in #ifdef blocks to remove it from all but debug builds.

And I know there will be questions about the test framework I mentioned. I would love to answer them, but it is an internal MS tool that cannot be shared. Sorry. :-)
