Dependency Check on 64 bit Windows

I'm trying to install WCSF on Windows Server 2003 64bit and the dependency checker tells me I have none of the required components installed. In fact, I have Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition for Software Devlopers installed, with Service Pack 1. I notice that the dependency checker is running as a 64 bit process and that it seems to be looking at the uninstall section of the registry to determine what is installed. Since Visual Studio is a 32 bit application it would need to look in the 32 bit area of the registry to find the Visual Studio entries. Is this a known issue?

Hi!

This is a known issue. Look at this thread:

http://www.codeplex.com/websf/Thread/View.aspx?ThreadId=11636:

There is a known issue with the dependency checker not recognizing GAX and GAT on 64bits. Since you do have GAX installed, you can continue the WCSF installation without paying attention to the dependency checker, and it should work fine. For further info about how to solve this, here’s a blog post that can be helpful http://joshmouch.wordpress.com/2007/06/11/installing-mobile-client-software-factory-on-vista-x64/
